Hasaacas Ladies

Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns will lock horns tonight in the final match of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League maiden edition.

Hasaacas Ladies qualified to the final match of the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League after a memorable 2-1 win over Morocco’s ASFAR on Monday.

The Sekondi based Women’s team came into the first ever TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League competition having won an unprecedented double; Women’s Premier League and FA Cup in 2021 before traveling to Ivory Coast to win the first ever West Africa Football Union Zone B Women’s Club Championship.

When the Ghanaians won the WAFU-B zonal qualifiers to reach the WCL finals, many thought that was a fluke. But in Cairo, Hasaacas Ladies proved they are one of the best teams in the continent.

Three wins and a draw guided Hasaacas to the final, where they would need another victory to be crowned as African Champions, a feat they believe they can achieve comes Friday night.

Coach Yussif Basigi in a pre-match interview expressed his confidence in every department of his squad ahead of the Mondial finale.

“I have faith in my goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers. You will see more variations of how the team plays,” the veteran coach said.

The 30 June Stadium in New Cairo suburb will be the theatre where the first ever African women club champions will be crowned.

Kick off is at 9:00 Cairo time (17:00 GMT).
