Black Stars skipper, Andre Ayew has urged his teammates to keep the momentum into the final Group H fixture against the Uruguayans.
Ghana defeated South Korea 3-2 on Monday to climb above their Asian rivals ahead of Friday’s closing fixtures.
The Black Stars powered in two first half goals but Korea hit back following Cho Guesung double. However, Ajax star Mohammed Kudus added to his first-half strike with a winning goal to lift up the Ghanaian hopes for a place in the final 16.
Buoyed by the win, Ayew believes Ghana is on course to seal qualification into the knockout round.
“It was great – great game, great feeling, great everything. I enjoyed it. we all enjoyed it. We need to keep the spirit high, keep the devotion high and try to make things happen like we did today. It’s a hard tournament – you can see there are a lot of surprises, you can’t predict any game. I am very happy and, hopefully, now we are in the race to get into the round of 16” the 32 years old said in a post match presser.
Ghana will try to book their place in the next round when they go head-to-head with Uruguay on Friday, while South Korea must bounce back when they take on Portugal.
