Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder, Sulley Ali Muntari has urged his side to stay focused in their bid to close the gap on leaders and archrivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the second round of the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians have had inconsistency of results in the first round of matches of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.

The 37 years old who had gone four games without a win bounced back to beat WAFA on Wednesday in their first win in the second round of the GPL thanks to a penalty scored by Muntari.

In a post match interview after the Rainbow club won against WAFA, the former Inter Milan star believes his side need to fully concentrate on lifting their performances rather than focusing on leaders, the Porcupine Warriors.

“We want to keep winning so we climb the league table, but we need to be focused on us,” he said.

”We have to concentrate and take it game by game. Kotoko is ahead, but we need to look at what we do. Kotoko is having a great season, but we need to focus on every game as and when they come around,” the former Liberty Professionals star said.

The Phobians by virtue of the win over the Sogakope lads moved to the fifth spot with 29 points. They face a difficult task next against Aduana Stars in Dormaa.
