Black Stars Coach Milovan Rajevac has blamed his team’s poor showing on Thursday to poor defending from the back.
The Black stars defence made series of misplaced passes, poor game reading, lack of composure and sluggish defending which allowed Ethiopia back into the game with an equalizer.
The Serbian who witnessed a frustrating afternoon, shed light on the defensive lapses.
”First, I would like to congratulate my players for fighting very hard. We were expecting a tough match today and I want to congratulate the Ethiopians for a very good performance and they deserved the result.
We had some problems in defence and we made some mistakes. But everything will be decided on Sunday (against South Africa). It is important that we win by two clear goals if we want to make it to the playoffs.”
Of course, the draw has distracted us a bit but we have to forget about it and think of the final match.
Even if we won Ethiopia today, we would still need to beat South Africa on Sunday and so, we have to give our best, gather the troops and give a good performance in the last match.” Milo said.
Meanwhile Ghana’s stiff opponents South Africa inched closer to play-off round after a precious 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe.
The results means Bafana Bafana remain top of Group G with 13 points, three ahead of second placed Ghana with whom they face off in the final match in Accra.
The Black stars need to win with a two goal difference to aid them secure passage to the third and final round of the African zone qualifiers.
According to the 67 years old his team will treat the final showdown with South Africa with seriousness.
”Definitely everything will be decided on Sunday. This is what we expected before so the last match will be like a final match, a deciding match to take us to the next round”. He added.
