Ghana’s U20 Male team Coach, Abdul Karim Zito has expressed confidence in his charges ahead of Black Satellite’s crunch encounter with the Flying Eagles of Nigeria in Group B of WAFU Zone B U20 Championship.
On Sunday, defending champions Ghana will take on Nigeria, the most decorated in this competition in Niamey at 4pm (GMT) at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché.
The Flying Eagles have won it 7 times but they missed out in the last edition in Mauritania.
The Black Satellites came from behind to beat Burkina Faso 2-1 to win the 2020 Championship at the Stade Charles De Gaulles in Porto Novo, Benin.
Speaking ahead of the game Coach Zito remains confident that his side has what it takes to come out victorious against the Nigerians.
“Nigeria began camping for this tournament four days after we stated in Prampram. They got here earlier and have played two friendlies against Niger but we are poised to qualify to the AFCON “, he said.
The Competition serves as qualification for the TotalEnergies U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The next U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament will take place in Egypt from February 18, 2023 to March 12, 2022.
