For the upcoming 2024 West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B) U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Ghana has been placed in Group A.
After the draw that took place in the early hours of Friday, April 19, in Abidjan, the Black Starlets are now in the same group as Cote d’Ivoire and Benin.
Ghana, the competition’s host nation, will aim to perform better than when they tried it before and were unable to advance to the final.
However, Cote d’Ivoire and Benin present a serious threat to them.
The tournament’s defending champions, Nigeria, are placed in Group B, though.
In Group B, the Golden Eaglets are leading the way with Burkina Faso, Niger, and Togo.
The competition this year will take place in Accra, with May 15 set as the kickoff date.
May 28 is when the 2024 WAFU B U-17 AFCON qualifiers are scheduled to take place.
The two finalists will secure their spots in the U-17 AFCON tournament, which will take place in 2025, through this tournament’s qualifying system.
The Black Starlets are scheduled to leave Ghana on Friday to compete in a four-nation tournament in Russia prior to the commencement of the WAFU Tournament.
