Ghana’s U20 Female team, the Black Princesses, secured qualification for a record seventh consecutive FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

It follows a 7:1 aggregate score over Senegal.

The tournament is set to take place in Columbia later this year.

In the second leg of their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying match, Ghana pulled off an incredible comeback to defeat Senegal 5-1 in Kumasi on Sunday.

Senegal took the lead in the fourth minute from a corner kick but the Princesses fought back strongly to turn the tide.

Maafia Nyame’s goal in the eighteenth minute pulled Ghana even.

Much to the relief of the visitors, Tracey Twum, who had scored a brace in the first leg, saw her effort miss the mark in the 20th minute. However, three minutes later, Beline Nyarko’s spectacular goal was secured by Helen Alormenu’s assist.

This time, Beline didn’t make a mistake as she turned a stunning move into the upper corner to give Ghana the advantage. Ghana threw bodies at the ball to prevent further upsets as they went into the break with a 2-1 advantage.

Yussif Basigi entered the game with new legs after the break and dominated the action. In the 67th minute, Salamatu Abdulai was fouled in the box; Tracey Twum scored from the spot.

Ghana’s fourth goal came via a fierce effort from the edge of the box by Beline Nyarko.

In the 72nd minute, Beline controlled the ball and lifted it into the upper left corner to give the Black Princesses a 4:1 lead.

The play on the wings by Maafia Nyame and Helen Alormenu found Salamatu Abdulai, who scored in the 78th minute to bring the total to five.

In an attempt to gain some momentum, the opponents made a few adjustments, but it was all in vain when the final whistle blew for the game.
