U-23 AFCON qualifier: Papa Gassama appointed Referee for Ghana vs Mozambique clash

Gambian Referee Papa Gassama will handle Ghana’s  U-23 Africa Cup of Nations second round 2 leg qualifier against Mozambique.

The experience 43-year-old will be assisted by Abdul Aziz Bollel Jawo (Assistant I), Omar Darboe (Assistant II) and Lamin Jammeh (Fourth Referee). Yameogo Koudougou David from Burkina Faso will work as the Match Commissioner as Ghana’s Christiana Baah operates as COVID-19 Officer.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his lads are already in camp as they  begin preparations for the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations. 27 players have been invited to camp. Six players of the victorious Black Galaxies team, namely, Augustine Randolph, Suraj Seidu, Dominic Nsobila, Samuel Osei Kuffuor, Danlad Ibrahim and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh

Kick off is at 15H00 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi on Sunday, October 3o.

The winner of the two legs will progress to the next round of the qualifiers as search for a ticket to the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco intensifies.

The Black Meteors failed to qualify for Beijing 2008 and even though they were at the 2011 All-Africa Games, the Ghana Olympic football team failed to qualify for the 2011 CAF U-23 Championship, thus did not participate in London 2012.
