The Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee has charged two Referees for breaching Article 26 of the GFA Code of Ethics, 2019 and Article 11(1) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019.

The two culprits namely Referee Philip Atta Forson and Isaac Osei were found by the GFA integrity Officer to have placed bets on sports betting platforms on various football matches.

According to the GFA, charge sheets have been sent to the two referees and they are to send their written responses on or before 5pm on Wednesday, August 8, 2022.

After receiving their responses, the GFA Disciplinary Committee will form a panel to adjudicate their respective cases.

The GFA in their quest to combat the sports betting menace and protect the integrity of the GPL announced that players will be fined GH₵5,000 and banned for one year if they are caught betting on the Ghana Premier League.

Not only players have been advised from betting on league matches, club officials, GFA officials, match officials and ball boys are also inclusive.
