Inaki Williams, a forward for the Black Stars, claims that choosing to represent Ghana over Spain in international football has helped him personally.
Following Athletic Bilbao’s 2-0 loss to Real Madrid, he made these remarks in an interview with Club del Deportista.
Williams participated in the match that his younger brother Nico Williams was forced to miss because of a strain on his right leg muscles.
Williams, who was born in Spain to Ghanaian parents, could have played for either nation before choosing to represent Ghana, but he has only scored one goal in 17 appearances. Even though there weren’t many goals scored, Williams is happy with his choice.
“Admittedly, things didn’t unfold as we all hoped but both in terms of sports and personally, it has been beneficiary for me. In fact, I believe I am experiencing one of my best moments, thanks to this decision.”
Williams competed for Ghana at the 2023 AFCON, which resulted in an elimination in the first round. He also has nine goals and three assists in 27 games for the 2023–2024 Spanish La Liga season.
