As part of efforts to boost patronage of investment products, Standard Chartered Bank, has introduced a new feature on its mobile banking app that allows customers to purchase Government Treasury bills and bonds.

Speaking to Citi Business News after an engagement with clients on the additional feature, the Head of Wealth Management at Standard Chartered Bank, Setor Quashigah, said she is hopeful such innovations will facilitate the financial inclusion drive which will eventually reduce the unbanked population in Ghana.

“The app is working as we’ve had quite a number of investments done on it already. We have a number of our customers already on the SC Mobile app. So, it has started already, you can do treasury bills, some of the cocoa bonds, the ESLA bond as well as some other local currency bonds. On the app you can place orders, sell and redeem as well.”

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana has awarded three customers who emerged winners of its SC Mobile Anfield Experience campaign.

Two of the winners were rewarded with all-expense paid tickets to the UK with an opportunity to watch a home match at Anfield.

The third winner was rewarded with a curved 65-inch television set and a customised Liverpool Jersey.

The two winners of the Anfield experience were; Mr. Emmanuel Kankam and Mr. Desmond Osei Mensah while Mr Sampson Kofi Agbovi took the television set.

Launched in October, the campaign ran over a three-month period after which the top winners were selected and rewarded by the bank.

Addressing the media after the presentation, the Head of Retail Banking at Stanchart, Mrs. Yvonne Gyebi, said the campaign was designed to reward customers who used the bank’s SC Mobile App.

“With the SC Mobile App, clients can execute all their banking activities right from their mobile devices, starting by opening their bank account and providing all verification documents by uploading to the application and completing the onboarding process within minutes.”

Mrs. Yvonne Gyebi added that the SC Mobile App is a new cost-efficient branch format that allows customers to pay bills, move cash and buy basic everyday items using their mobile phones.

Dubbed, SC Mobile Anfield Experience, the campaign was determined by a point system, with every transaction earning the client points.

The client with the highest number of points becomes the top winner.
