Accra Hearts of Oak gaffer Samuel Boadu has lavished praise on his boys after they outplayed archrivals Kotoko in Ghana’s biggest game of the domestic football calendar with a 1-0 victory.
The Phobians, led by coach Samuel Boadu, left the fans of Accra Sports Stadium with smiles as Daniel Barnieh Afriyie’s 66th-minute strike sealed the victory.
In a post-match interview, he said, the much-anticipated match was a “big” game from both sides but Hearts were the better side to win.
“it was a big game. Kotoko played well but we were better and eager to win this crucial encounter to achieve our target of winning the title. My players were tactical on the pitch and in the end, it paid off”.
Hearts of Oak claimed bragging rights in the showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium by virtue of a lone goal scored by Daniel Barnieh Afriyie.
Hearts would travel to face Ebusua Dwarfs in matchday 32 of the ongoing GPL.
The win puts Hearts of Oak on 56 points to maintain its top spot on the league table.
