President Nana Akufo-Addo should replace the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta with former Member of Parliament for New Juabeng South, Dr Mark Assibey-Yeboah, a former Member of Parliament for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimoh has said.
Mr Addai-Nimoh believes Mr Ofori-Atta has kept long at the Finance Ministry therefore, the time has come for him to be sent to another Ministry, either Health or Foreign Affairs.
He also stated that Dr Assibey-Yeboah who also served on the Finance Committee of the 7th Parliament, has the requisite skills and competence in Finances to head the Finance Ministry for which he should be considered.
“A reshuffle of the Finance Minister would have been ideal but the back stops with the president,” he told Johnnie Hughes on the New Day show on TV3 Tuesday September 27.
He added “Of course I would have reshuffled him to another ministry like Health of Foreign Affairs and replace him with people like Assibey-Yeboah. Assibey-Yeboah is no more and MP and Ofori-Atta is also not an MP.”
President Akufo-Addo recently gave an indication that he was satisfied with the work of his appointees.
He said that most of his ministers have worked up to expectation. He said their output has been considerable and that is what he looks at.
Mr Akufo-Addo said these when asked for his views on calls to reshuffle his ministers while speaking on North Star Radio in Tamale as part of his two-day tour of the Northern Region on Monday August 8.
“Many of them for me have done outstanding work,” he said.
“Their output has been considerable, and that is what I look at,” he added.
The president further indicated that “If the output measures expectations, then I don’t have any strong reasons to heed the call.”
