A car dealer of NAYAF Autos in Apenkwa, Accra, Nana Adu-Gyamfi has congratulated the government for the 30% Benchmark Value Reduction on cars, which he says has boosted many Car Dealership businesses.
He said though the 30% reduction on imported cars has boosted the car dealership business, the dollar has always been a stumbling block for their business.
According to him, customers have started purchasing more vehicles after the benchmark value reduction.
He noted that churches with international branches are to be blamed for the increase in dollar rate in the country.
He alleged that foreign churches, take away all the money they have in dollars from Ghana and as a result of this, the more they take the dollars, the higher the demand for dollars which weakens the cedi.
“You know a lot of people especially the foreign churches, they take away all the money they have in dollars. The more they take all the dollars, the higher the situation goes. If they go in for more dollars we become short of dollars and therefore the price will go up. The dollar rate will group. The churches especially, the Government must do something about it” he said
He said with this development, car dealers will have to spend more cedis to get dollars before they can purchase their cars abroad.
Touching on the impact the policy by the Government on luxury vehicles with 3 litres and above engine capacity, Nana Adu-Gyamfi said previously the policy had a serious impact on car dealers.
According to him, after a review of the policy, though the purchase for such cars is currently low, the purchase is better than before.
He further called on all citizens and Government to work hard to reduce the impact of the dollar rate on the Ghana cedi.
He also called on car dealers to be true to citizens by discontinuing the act of cheating customers since imported cars have been reduced on cars.
Before the 30% reduction on imported cars by the government, some cars which were previously high have now been reduced drastically he noted.
