After only one preseason game, the Washington Redskins are now without one of their top options for retooling their running game.

Rookie running back Derrius Guice suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament Thursday against the New England Patriots, the team confirmed in a release Friday.

The LSU product and No. 59 overall pick in April’s NFL draft was expected to play a significant role in boosting a Redskins rushing offense that ranked just 28th in the NFL in 2017. Washington now might have to lean more on Chris Thompson, Rob Kelley and Samaje Perine in the backfield.

Tight end Manasseh Garnertore also tore his ACL on Thursday, the team said.
