The GFA Disciplinary Committee has declared Real Tamale United (RTU) as winners of the Division One League Matchday 27 game between BA United and RTU at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
The declaration comes after Matchday 27 encounter at the Sunyani Coronation park ended abruptly contrary to Article 33(1)(b)of the GFA Division One League Regulations.
A viral video on social media caught fans of home side, BA United, chasing and mercilessly beating up referee Maxwell Hanson after he awarded a 40th minute penalty to RTU. Stones and other objects were thrown into the inner perimeter by fans of the Brong Ahafo United.
Referee Hanson was unable to continue the match after the incident, bringing a premature end to the game.
RTU prior to the game were one point above Berekum Arsenal and Tano Bofoakwa in Zone II of the Division One League and a win would guarantee their return to the top flight for the first time since 2013.
