After a poor showing at last year’s show, rapper Sarkodie redeemed himself at this year’s Rapperholic show which came off at the Grand Arena Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre on Christmas Day.

After spreading himself thin performing at various shows last year, Sarkodie put up a tame performance at his own show but this year, he preserved his energy and came back stronger with a show that can best be described as exceptional.

The show was quite boring at the beginning in spite of performances by artistes such as Edem, Kelvyn Boy and Tulenkey who all tried to excite the audience.

Challenges with sound led to Kwesi Arthur cutting short his performance because his microphone was not working.

Substandard performances by other artistes led to murmurings in the audience that Rapperholic 2019 was becoming a flop.

However, Sarkodie’s appearance and performance turned all that around. Hitting the stage by 12:30 a.m, the king of rap wasted no time in dropping songs such as Okodie, Azonto, Pain Killer, Illuminati, Me Gye Wo Girl, Pizza, and Borga.

After dropping those hits, Sarkodie started bringing on stage some of the artistes he has collaborated with including King Promise, Efya, Stonebwoy, Prince Bright of Buk Bak fame, Sista Afia, Coded of 4X4, Mr Eazi and a host of others.

The surprise act was Nigeria’s Rudeboy, formerly of P Square fame who joined Sarkodie to do their song Lucky. The audience went crazy when they saw Rudeboy on stage.

This year, Sarkodie had time for his fans and spent almost two hours performing nonstop for them. The artistes he has collaborated with were not allowed to perform their own songs apart from the ones they have with him.

He performed mostly live with just a little miming. In fact, there was no dull moment in his performance from start to finish.

Other artistes who came to support include Stonebwoy, Quamina MP, Bless of Chocho Mucho fame, Medikal, Kofi Mole and many more.

This year’s edition of Rapperholic dubbed: “Unstoppable” can be said to be the best edition so far in terms of performances from Sarkodie.

However, just like last year, there was too much heat in the auditorium.
