Black Stars

The Black Stars held two training sessions on Sunday ahead of their Group H opening encounter against Portugal.

The Senior National team are coming from a comfortable 2-0 win over Switzerland in an International friendly played last Thursday.

After missing out on the FIFA World Cup in 2018, Ghana will be back on the biggest of stages at Qatar 2022 as they are housed in Group H where they play Portugal, Korea Republic and Uruguay.

The Black Stars cannot afford any slip-up against the Portuguese counterparts and risk a potential early exit again if they do.

Meanwhile, Joseph Wollacott will join the camp of the Black Stars for the match against Portugal. The injured Goalkeeper who was deemed to make the squad will travel to Doha on Tuesday, to support the Black Stars in their opening Group H match on Thursday.

According to a press statement from the GFA, ”Wollacott who was crucial to Ghana’s World Cup qualification missed out on the World Cup due to injury [but] intends to come over and motivate his colleagues ahead of the opening match against Portugal on Thursday”.
