Commodity Analyst ESOKO Ghana, has said that prices of foodstuff on the market will go up by the festive season this year.

In an interview with the Content Manager of ESOKO, Mr Francis Danso Adjie urged all Ghanaians to start purchasing their foodstuff for the Christmas festive since commodity prices will surely shoot up by at least  1%.

According to him, most commodities harvested during the raining season are likely to go bad due to poor storage, a situation he believes will lead to shortage of commodities on the local market.

In the third quarter of the year- July, August and September- ESOKO said prices of foodstuff declined by 3.9%.

This was because the third quarter is a period of harvesting for farmers harvest.

According to him, the anticipated increase in prices may extend to 2020.

He added that there is likely to be hikes in prices of foodstuff next year, adding that the effect will depend on when the raining season will end.

He advised the public to purchase foodstuffs they can store for a longer period such as rice, cereals before the prices shoot up
