Defending Ghana Premier League champions, Accra Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu has attributed his club 1-0 defeat to Medeama SC in their outstanding match at the Akoon Park on Wednesday to poor refereeing.
Medeama SC left it late to beat Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0 thanks to an 82nd minute penalty from former center back of Hearts of Oak Vincent Atingah.
The Match Day 6 fixture which was originally scheduled for December, was moved to January due to Heart’s involvement in the 2021/22 CAF Inter Club competitions.
The Phobians ended the game with 10 players after striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior picked up a second yellow card in stoppage time.
“I don’t talk about officiating but for today I think the referee was bad. He awarded Medeama SC a dubious penalty and I actually don’t know the motive behind the red card. Maybe he wants to destroy our team,” Boadu furiously said.
The defeat ends Hearts of Oak’s six match unbeaten run – their first loss since November 2021.
The Rainbow club thus remains in seventh position on the league log.
