Police kill one of 3 robbery suspects who killed 2 cops in Zuarungu

A special Anti-Robbery squad, assisted by the Upper East Regional Police Command through an intelligence-led operation at Kpatia in the Talensi District has gunned down suspect Laayaame Simon alias Yendu aged 34 years, one of the three suspected armed robbers who callously murdered two Police officers at Zuarungu in the Upper East Region.

The Police made the revelation Wednesday via a Facebook post.

According to the Police, efforts are underway to arrest the rest of the suspects.

“A special targeted intelligence-led operation is being carried to get the rest of the suspects arrested”.

Background:

Two Policemen –Constable Emmanuel Akowuah and Constable Mohhamed Sule on a night patrol were shot dead at Zuarungu Market where a robbery was ongoing.

The robbers shot at the tank of the police motorbike and partially burnt constable Mohammed Sule while constable Emmanuel Akowuah was shot in the head.

The robbers made away with GH¢2,000.00.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare placed a GH¢50,000 bounty on the heads of the suspected armed robbers.
