The Minority in Parliament is charging President Akufo-Addo to pay particular attention to the inscriptions on placards that will be wielded by workers at the May Day parade tomorrow.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, the Minority leader and MP for Tamale South, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, advised the President that on May Day, there are so many lessons to learn from the placards.

According to him, the placards manifest deep internal wounds that need attention of the state.

Mr Iddrisu advised the President to look out for grievances mounted on the placards since they carry the weight of both the young and old, which must be given the needed attention.

He added that all the concerns that will be raised at the May Day celebration should not be treated with contempt as they call for the betterment of citizens.

“Mr Speaker there are lessons to learn even as I observed in my days as Minister for Employment. On May Day ….the placards manifest deep wounds… that sometimes need the attention of the President,” he said.

May Day is celebrated globally on 1st May each year to recognise the contribution of workers to the global economy. It also highlights the plight of workers around the world.
