Fast-rising Ghanaian domestic operator, PassionAir, will from May 17 scale up operations with increased frequency to Wa, Tamale, Kumasi and the introduction of inter-regional flights on the Accra-Kumasi-Wa route.

PassionAir has confirmed to AviationGhana that effective May 17 it is increasing its frequencies on the Wa route from five times weekly to daily flights on the route. The increased frequency also includes the introduction of a new route Accra-Kumasi-Wa-Kumasi-Accra on Tuesday and Thursday.

The introduction of inter-regional flights will make PassionAir the only airline offering the service in the country.

Domestic passengers have been clamoring for inter-regional flights to make it easy to connect different parts of the country conveniently by air, since the initial attempts at inter-regional flights by defunct Antrak and other domestic operators were suspended years ago.

The airline is also increasing frequencies on the Accra-Tamale route from twice daily to three times daily and further adding additional frequencies on the Kumasi route during the weekend.

PassionAir, which operates a fleet of five Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and Bombardier Dash 8 Q300, currently controls above 35% share of the domestic market. It started operations in 2018 with the Kotoka International Airport in Accra as its base.
