Osman Bukari joins MLS side Austin FC

Osman Bukari, a Ghanaian international, has officially joined Austin FC from Red Star Belgrade.

Osman Bukari, a 25-year-old Ghanaian international winger. As a designated player, Bukari signs a three-and-a-half-year contract with Austin FC that is guaranteed through the end of the 2027 campaign, with an option for 2028. The sale is contingent upon obtaining Bukari’s P-1 visa and ITC.

“I am very motivated and excited to join Austin FC,” said Bukari. “I want to do everything I can to help this team, this city, and this fanbase to achieve their goals.”

After playing for Red Star Belgrade in Serbia for the previous two (2) seasons, Bukari has arrived in Austin. In 78 appearances across all competitions, Bukari recorded 25 goals and 20 assists as Red Star won consecutive Serbian league crowns and consecutive Serbian Cups.

In the UEFA Champions League 2023–24, Bukari contributed two goals and two assists. He scored on the road against Manchester City FC, the reigning Champions League winners, and late in the game against BSC Young Boys of Switzerland. Bukari’s peak speed in the 2023–24 Champions League group stage was recorded as the tenth quickest of all players. In Red Star’s Champions League qualifying victory over Pyunik the previous season, Bukari recorded three goals and one assist, earning him the title of Man of the Match.

At the international level, Bukari is a frequent member of the Ghana Men’s National Team. He played for Ghana in the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast in 2023 as well as the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022. Bukari played 45 minutes against Uruguay during the World Cup and scored a goal for Ghana against Portugal. To date, Bukari has made 17 senior international appearances for Ghana, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
