The Black Queens of Ghana lost the Olympic Games qualifying match 4-3 after a pulsating 3-3 draw.
The Black Queens entered the match with the intention of overcoming a 1-0 first-leg deficit. However, in the first few minutes, the host took the lead through Barbara Banda.
Gifty Assifuah’s excellent finish put Ghana right back on level terms before the half.
Following the break, Ghana took a 2-1 lead thanks to a goal from Doris Boaduwaa, making the final score 2-2. But, Zambia answered in 61 minutes, leveling the score at 2-2.
Azumah Bugri increased the tally in the 64th minute to give Ghana a 3-2 lead.
Ghana’s dream of qualifying took a snag after Jennifer Cudjoe received a second yellow card in the 96th minute, Ghana was down to 10 players.
In 97 minutes, Barbara Banda scored her second goal of the day to give Zambia a 3-3 draw and a 4-3 aggregate victory.
