Traders have expressed mixed reaction to the new January ending deadline for the Nigeria border to be opened to Ecowas traders.
They cannot for the reopening of the Nigerian border which has remained closed for several months.
Trading activities between Nigeria and her neighbours have been halted over the past three months following the closure of the Nigeria borders.
Recently the Nigerian government made it known to Ghanaians that the borders would be opened in January.
But that promises have elicited mixed reactions.
In an interview with Cedidollar.com, some Nigerian and Ghanaian businessmen, raised doubt about the Nigerian government keeping its promise.
A Nigerian importer popularly known as King of boys said he does not really trust what the Nigerian Government has announced.
Mr Sunday a businessman, further called on President Buhari to ensure the right thing is done to help everyone.
Chuku Ebere a transporter from Ghana to Nigeria also called on the Government to open the borders now for a better Christmas.
The Chairman of the USENI FULAMI station in Accra has urged the Ghanaian Government to also help traders in Ghana by adopting similar decisions taken by the Nigeria government.
According to him, though the closure of the border is affecting their businesses, the Ghanaian government should also adopt the action taken by the Nigeria government to stop other foreign items from entering into the country.
He noted that laws should be made for Ghanaians to stop importing petty items such as sandals, slippers, clothes and rather purchase Ghana made products.
Richard Oni who is a trader alleged the borders are only partially closed. According to him, the borders are opened from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
He appealed to all ECOWAS members to talk to the Nigerian government to totally uplift the band.
