In order to settle unpaid claims, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has released one hundred and seventy million, seven hundred and seventy-five thousand, and thirty-five cedis to different healthcare providers across the country.
The payment of GHS170, 775,035.07 covers the majority of claims from January and February 2024 for lower-tier healthcare facilities, which represent the largest group of providers, according to a statement released by the NHIA on Wednesday, May 1.
The payment covers claims for facilities in the upper echelons through November 2023.
The Authority stated that this payment is a component of the NHIA’s mission to offer top-notch healthcare services to all Ghanaian citizens in a statement that was signed by Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, the organization’s chief executive.
“This is in fulfillment of the NHIA’s mandate and ensures the continued provision of quality healthcare services to all citizens.”
Healthcare facilities can visit the NHIA website at nhis.gov.gh/payments to verify their payment, according to the NHIA.
In addition to wishing all employees a happy May Day, the management of the NHIA expressed gratitude to all the healthcare facilities that have been granted approval to offer healthcare services for their commitment to community well-being.
