Nsoatreman FC defeated Bofoakwa Tano 5-4 in a thrilling penalty shootout to win the 2023–24 MTN FA Cup and win their first-ever championship.

Held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, the game was intensely tense and exciting as both teams fought hard to finish the football season with a bang.

Both teams came into the game with a strong sense of purpose and energy. Nsoatreman SC was eager to add a trophy to their excellent season after placing an impressive fourth in the just concluded Ghana Premier League.

However, Bofoakwa Tano, who had to endure the sorrow of being relegated from the top division after making a valiant comeback after 16 years, regarded this game as an opportunity to save their season.

In the 22nd minute, Richard Dzikoe’s well-placed strike gave Bofoakwa Tano the lead. The Sunyani-based club led well into the second half and were ready to win the championship.

But Sadat Mohammed of Nsoatreman SC scored a vital equalizer with just 11 minutes remaining, guaranteeing that extra time would be played.

Both teams had chances in extra time, but were unable to score, so the game went into a tight penalty shootout to determine the winner. Nsoatreman FC retained their composure and won the shootout 5–4, setting off joyous celebrations among its players and supporters.

With this historic triumph, Nsoatreman FC wins their first MTN FA Cup and gets to play for Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup the next season. They will also take part in the August GHALCA Top 4 event, which will give them excellent preparation for the coming season.
