Karela United FC has defeated Asante Kotoko in the 2023–24 MTN FA Cup Round of 16.

Two second half goals were enough to end the FA Cup title ambition for the Porcupine Warriors.

The home team, which had a difficult first half of the Ghana Premier League, needed the victory to repair their reputation after finishing the first round of the competition in the bottom three of the standings due to a poor showing.

Following a scoreless first half, Solomon Aboagye broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, and Ibrahim Giyas wrapped up the victory in the 65th minute, sending Abubakari Damba’s team to the MTN FA Cup quarterfinals.

With the victory, Karela United advances to the MTN FA Cup quarterfinals this season.

Asante Kotoko will now have to focus their efforts on the Ghana Premier League.
