Accra Hearts of Oak won their 12th MTN FA Cup trophy in the Club’s history, Sunday, after coming from behind to defeat Bechem Utd 2-1 at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The Rainbow Club after relinquishing their Ghana Premier League title to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko this season, were bent on seeking solace in the FA Cup and were glorious once again.
This is the second time the Phobians have won the trophy in a row after last season’s triumph over AshantiGold.
The Hunters took the lead in the 45th minute thanks to a strike from Avornyo to shock the Rainbow Club.
The Phobians drew level in 48th minute through a spectacular goal from Caleb Amankwah before the break.
Afriyie Barnieh, a master of big games was once again the hero of the day as his deft touch secured Hearts the most decorated Club in history of the MTN FA Cup.
Bechem’s main man Augustine Okrah was red carded after headbutting an official after an incident didn’t go his way.
Hearts will represent Ghana in the Confederation Cup next season. They will receive GHC80,000 as prize money.
