The GFA has announced that Accra Sports stadium will host the final of the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup on Sunday, August 08, 2021.
Ten times record holders Accra Hearts of Oak will lock horns with 1993 champions Obuasi AshantiGold SC on Sunday at 5pm.
The FA Cup final is returning to the capital for the first time in seven years following the decision of the Ghana Football Association to rotate the venues for the final matches.
The Phobians on their way to the finals brushed aside Medeama SC 3-0 in their semi-finals encounter at the Cape Coast Stadium. Goals from Benjamin Afutu, Isaac Mensah and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh sealed victory for the Rainbow boys.
Meanwhile, their opponents Ashgold booked their place in the final by a 4-1 win over Chelsea after extra-time.
The last final that was held at the Accra Sports stadium was in 2014 when Asante Kotoko beat Inter Allies 2-1 to win a record eighth FA Cup title.
Hearts are chasing their second domestic title after claiming the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League whilst the Obuasi-based outfit, who lost the 2012 final to New Edubiase United, are on course to clinch their first FA Cup title since 1993 when they won their only gold.
