According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Works and Housing, the purpose of the recently introduced Performance Tracker is to guarantee accountability and openness in the implementation of infrastructure projects throughout the nation.
In particular, the use of artist’s impressions to depict outcomes raises long-standing questions about the accuracy and dependability of project presentations, he continued. These concerns will be helped by the tracker.
The Ofoase-Ayirebi MP emphasized that the tracker is an improved version of the Delivery Tracker, which Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia first unveiled in 2020.
During the tracker’s official launch on Wednesday, at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Oppong Nkrumah stated that the tracker currently houses more than 13,000 projects across the country.
According to the minister, the Performance Tracker includes a wide range of projects that have been verified in each of the sixteen regions of the nation, including infrastructure and service delivery initiatives. He pointed out that, as of June 2023, the most recent data on the platform is available.
Oppong Nkrumah underlined the continual efforts to update the Performance Tracker, with data contributions from numerous ministries and agencies going beyond the June 2023 deadline.
He emphasized the platform’s stringent validation procedure, which involves geotagging and taking pictures of projects to guarantee transparency.
The minister emphasized the Performance Tracker’s user-friendliness, describing it as a comprehensive database that can be accessed via a website and a mobile application.
“As of June 2023, there are over 13, 000 projects across the 261 districts, across the 16 regions, across the 28 ministries that have been validated and updated on this platform.”
The platform, he added, has undergone a rigorous validation process, including geo-tagging and photographing projects for transparency.
“The performance tracker is a database that showcases the performances of the government of Ghana and it is going to show you the various projects that have been executed across the country. This database has two interfaces; a website and an application. Today the mobile phone is very powerful too and sometimes even beyond what your desktop can do.
“It showcases the performances of Ghana across the 267 districts and the 28 ministries and the 16 regions,” he added.
