The National Democratic Congress’ Functional Executive Committee (FEC) has disqualified Michael Nii Yarboi from running in the Odododiodioo Constituency’s parliamentary elections.
The Special Committee tasked with looking into the violence at Odododiodioo Constituency during the vetting of parliamentary candidates on October 13, 2023, submitted a report that served as the basis for the decision.
The FEC also determined that the two other candidates, Mr. Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea and Mr. Alfred Nii Kotei Ashie, whose supporters are said to have caused damage to properties at the vetting center, will share the cost of the damage there.
Journalist Akosua Otchere of Citi FM/Citi TV was attacked during the vetting of the parliamentary candidates at Odododiodioo. The attack was in response to some disgruntled supporters who threw chairs and an air conditioner at the vetting committee and threw stones at them, claiming they had been treated unfairly.
Furthermore, the FEC has instructed its election directorate to set up the Odododiodioo Constituency parliamentary primaries as soon as possible.
