Black Queens head coach, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo has expressed her disappointment over the absence of key players in the foreign terrain ahead of their crucial clash against the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Ghana will be missing the services of Maccabi Kiryat Gat’s Sherifatu Sumaila, NJ/NY Gotham FC’s Jennifer Cudjoe and Durgardens’ Elizabeth Addo but Real Betis’ Grace Asantewaa, Durgardens’ Portia Boakye and Racing’s Princella Adubea could line up against Nigeria.

The Black Queens squad is made up of players plying their trades in the Ghanaian topflight that featured at the 2021 Aisha Buhari Cup, except for four foreign-based stars in the 22-player list.

Most of my foreign based players played during the week and most of them got injured, some of them had issues with their documents,” she said.

She was however unperturbed as she was impressed with this group during last month’s Aisha Buhari Cup.

“I have belief in the players I selected because this is the same team that played in the Aisha Buhari cup and their performances were okay”

This is the 18th time both countries will be squaring up in a competitive tie and the first time in Women’s AFCON qualification campaigns.

The two fierce West African rivals are scheduled for a mouthwatering clash at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
