Dancehall and Afrobeat artiste Kelvyn Boy says Ghanaians need to respect the fact that Medikal is the best rapper in Ghana.
The talented young musician noted that Medikal’s position as the best when it comes to rap currently, cannot be disputed by anyone.
“As it stands, he is the best rapper unless you tell me that VGMA is bogus,” he said in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM Friday.
Kelvyn Boy was making reference to Medikal winning the Best Rapper at the 20th-anniversary edition of the Ghana Music Awards in May this year.
Medikal beat rappers like M.anifest, Teephlow, Sarkodie and Obibini to win the award.
Kelvyn Boy, born Kelvin Brown, will not take sides in the beef between Medikal and Strongman, which trended on social media last weekend.
Noting that beef is not new in rap music, the Burniton Music Group signee said he has a healthy relationship with the two rappers.
He has worked with the two artistes – Medikal on ‘Toffee’ and ‘Crazy For You,’ a song by Strongman.
After being accused of disrespecting Wendy Shay when a video of him subbing her went viral, Kelvyn Boy said he respects that the singer is the ‘Best New Artiste’ in Ghana.
Even though he lost that award to Wendy Shay, the Afrobeat artiste said: “she is the best New Artiste.”
He, however, believes that it is insecurity that let Wendy Shay’s manager, Bullet take a swipe at him on social media after the alleged snub.
Kelvyn Boy reiterated that he has no issue with Wendy Shay and even “if I am going to beef, I’m not going beef with a woman.”
