Medeama SC defeated Kotoko 2-1 in Week 21 of the Ghana Premier League clash at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
The win puts Medeama on top of the GPL Table.
The Yellow and Mauves ended Kotoko’s unbeaten run under new coach Mariano Barreto thanks to goals from Prince Opoku Agyemang’s 30th minutes goal and a Richard Boadu 45th minute winner after Emmanuel Gyamfi had given Kotoko the lead in 13 minutes into play.
Kotoko started brightly and took the lead when captain Emmanuel Gyamfi headed home from close range in the 12th minute.
But the Miners took control and scored goals in the last 15 minutes of the first half to take the three points.
Prince Opoku Agyemang beat Razak Abalora with a terrific low strike following a defence-splitting pass by Tetteh Zutah.
Midfielder Richard Boadu scored with a long-range strike which took a wicked deflection.
Kotoko came into the second half desperate to salvage something from the game, but Medeama were resolute.
By virtue of today’s win the Porcupine Warriors have surrendered top spot to Medeama Sc.
