Ghana’s Male U20 team will kick start their Maurice Revello Tournament today, Monday when they play Mexico at the Stade de Lattre Aubagne in Marseille at 17:30Hrs (3:30pm GMT).
The Black Satellites held their final training session in Marseille on Sunday evening as they prepare for the Group B opener against the Mexicans.
Coach Karim Zito and his charges are coming from a disappointing WAFU Zone B showing after failing to defend the title they won in 2021.
A total of 22 players were named in the squad. Additions to the team include Hearts of Oak duo Isaac Mensah and Yaw Amankwa Baafi as well as Issah Samari Salifu Abass of Accra Lions.
Other inclusions to the national U-20 team are Aaron Essel of Bechem United and Kelvin Opoku Abrefa who plays in the Youth team of Reading FC.
Ghana are placed in Group B together with Mexico, Venezuela and Indonesia.
They will play Indonesia on Thursday, in a second group game before playing Venezuela on Sunday in the final group B fixture.
The annual Maurice Revello Tournament is in its the 48th edition. It’s an international, age-restricted football tournament, which was formerly known as the Toulon Tournament. It is held in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône from 29 May to 12 June 2022.
Brazil are the defending Champions.
