Majority in Parliament

According to the majority in parliament, the minority caucus is deliberately driving away investors by spreading false information to the public, which is destroying the economy.

Concerns regarding the government’s flagrant disregard for the Public Financial Management Act have been voiced by the Minority in Parliament.

The caucus claims that in order to award the contract to dualize the Kasoa-Winneba portion of the Accra-Cape Coast route, the administration did not get parliamentary clearance.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the minority leader, questioned the government’s funding source for the project in an interview with journalists.

The minority group’s ongoing claims that government agencies have signed contracts that flagrantly violate the Public Financial Management Act, according to the majority, are false.

This was stated by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin during a Wednesday speech to journalists in Accra’s Parliament.

“The contract in question must be an international transaction. That is where our colleagues should pay attention. It does not mean that every contract with a multi-year value should come to parliament. So they should stop misleading the public. They should stop peddling falsehoods. Every government engages the private sector. The object of that is to create space for economic growth.”

“So if you recklessly scare off the businessmen and where you know that what you are putting out is not true what you are trying to do is to sabotage the economy.

“So I would want to encourage them that we know it’s an election year but let’s argue on facts. Let’s put out the facts,” he stated.
