A brace from Cameroonian forward Frank Mbella gave the Porcupine Warriors 2-1 away victory over Legon Cities on Sunday.

Kotoko has been winless in three outings. However, Frank Mbella’s brace proved decisive for the Porcupine Warriors in Match Day 9 of the Ghana Premier League at the theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

Mbella, who scored his first goal against Real Tamale United in midweek, opened the scoring for Kotoko in the 29th minute after a great team play.

The lead lasted for only three minutes as Legon Cities fetched the equaliser through Ahmed Rahman in the 32nd minute courtesy an error by goalkeeper Razak Abalora.

Legon Cities changed their approach to the game after the goal as they bombed forward and attacked the Kotoko goal area in search of a second goal but the array of attacks resulted in nothing as the first half ended 1-1.

Abalora made amends with a great save in the second half before Mbella snatched the victory for Kotoko in the 78th minute.

The Fabulous club sit in third place with 17 points – three points behind leaders Aduana FC – though they have a game in hand against arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.

Kotoko will play host to WAFA at home on Match Day 10 of the Premier League.
