Former Black stars midfielder, Laryea Kingson has attributed Hearts of Oak’s abysmal start to the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season to insufficient planning.

The defending Ghana premier league champions, are winless in four matches in the GPL after three draws and a loss.

The Phobians have also crashed out of the Caf Confederation Cup qualifying round following a defeat to the Algerian outfit on Sunday.

They were humbled in Bechar, as Algeria’s JS Saoura produced an amazing comeback to beat Ghana’s Hearts of Oak 4-0 and reach the group stage of the tournament on a 4-2 aggregate.

The Rainbow club’s disappointment also marks the end of their 2021-22 African campaign, having begun the season in the superior Caf Champions League where they suffered a preliminary second-round elimination at the hands of Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.

The ex Accra Hearts of Oak, star in an interview with Citi Sports, said fatigue played a role in the Phobians’ poor showing this season but believes they can bounce back.

“Going into the season, their main focus was on Africa so they did not really focus on the Ghana Premier League.”

“So in future, I would love to see them planning well and they also need to manage the players very well.

“For me I think the players have been overused and so fatigue has set in but with time I believe they will bounce back.” Laryea said.

The Rainbow club plays Elmina Sharks next in their bid to turn things around.
