The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has been urged to act swiftly to address the bad fuel threat that has emerged recently by the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC).

This follows nationwide gasoline consumers’ complaints that they were supplied suspected contaminated fuel by a number of Oil Marketing Companies.

In a statement released on Thursday, COPEC stated: “We are appalled by the seeming endless phenomenon as complaints by consumers affected by the situation continue to come up on a daily basis, while also commending the National Petroleum Authority for their swift response in getting to promptly investigate the menace.”

“By doing this, we are requesting that the NPA step up their efforts to address the matter and guarantee that whatever the likely cause(s) of this threat is swiftly eliminated, at the very least by the end of this week.”

According to COPEC, the NPA will be sued for violating its primary responsibility of making sure each liter of petroleum products sold at the various pumps satisfies the required minimum standards.
