The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has attributed the last night’s power outages across the capital to a fault on Tema-Accra East transmission line at Trasacco .
In a statement sighted by Cedidollar.com GRIDCo explained as follow;
“At 11:06pm on Saturday April 3, 2021, a conductor on the Tema – Accra East transmission line fell at Trasacco, leading to power outages in major parts of the Greater Accra region,”
GRIDCo, while admitting the problem, said it was working to fully restore power.
“The maintenance team was able to work round the clock to restore power to the Mallam, Achimota and Accra Central Bulk Supply Points (BSPs) at about 4:00am on Sunday April 4, 2021.”
“Power supply has, however, been reduced to 50% in areas around Trasacco as the team works to permanently fix the fault.”
Greater Accra and some Regions have experienced major power outages within the last three weeks, all attributed to technical issues.
Before last Saturday night’s power outage Ghanaians nationwide had been complaining about the power cuts and questioning if load shedding, also known as dumsor, had returned.
