After finishing as the top scorer in the Ghana Premier League with 19 goals, Chelsea striker Stephen Amankona won the Golden Boot for the 2023–24 campaign.
Former Asante Kotoko forward Amankona led Dreams FC’s Agyenim Boateng Mensah and Kotoko forward Steven Mukwala, who were tied at 14 goals, by three goals going into the decisive match against Heart of Lions. Amankona held his advantage despite Boateng’s outstanding five-goal effort in their penultimate match against the Real Tamale United (RTU), who had already been demoted.
Amankona scored twice to help Berekum Chelsea secure a 2-2 draw against Heart of Lions in an exciting final game. His status as the league’s top scorer was cemented by these vital goals, which also earned him the Golden Boot.
The leading scorer from the previous campaign, Abednego Tetteh, who scored 18 goals for the Bibiani Gold Stars, is replaced by Amankona.
Berekum Chelsea had a great season thanks in large part to his outstanding play this season. They finished third in the championship, behind only FC Samartex and Accra Lions.
