The Ghana Football Association has announced the indefinite postponement of Ghana Premier League Match Day 29
derby between AshantiGold SC and Asante Kotoko at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

The decision follows an intelligence report from the Ghana Police Service which reveals supporters of the Miners plans to interrupt the regional derby which was scheduled on Thursday, 19th May.

Ashgold were recently demoted from the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League after being found guilty of match manipulation in their 2020/21 matchweek 34 GPL game against International Allies.

The President of Ashantigold SC Dr. Kwaku Frimpong and his son, Emmanuel Frimpong ( CEO of Asantigold SC ) and Officials of the Club have all been sanctioned and served with bans after being found guilty in the alleged match-fixing scandal.

Eight players of the club have also been banned for two years each after being found guilty of match manipulation, while a further five players have also been handed four year bans for failure to appear before the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee.

The GFA said it will announce a new date in due course.
