The Porcupine Warriors came from a goal down to stun newcomers Samatex in Match-Day 5 of the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League action played on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The defending champions were coming from a loss to Bechem United in mid-week and needed the points badly to appease their teeming fans with a win.

Samatex took the lead at the Baba Yara Sports stadium four minutes after halftime thanks to Prince Antwi.

The lead, however lasted until the 78th minute when Kotoko’s pressure paid off. Nicholas Mensah scored his second goal of the season as he tapped home from close range after the goalkeeper failed to keep hold of Mukwala’s free kick.

The visitors were dealt a blow in the 86 minute after Seidu Abubakar was sent off for a second yellow card.

The Fabulous lads defender Augustine Agyapong smashed home the resulting free kick to give the Reds maximum points at home.

The win moves Kotoko to  to third on the league log with 10 points – three points adrift of leaders Aduana FC who are on top with 13 points.
