In the Ghana Premier League’s Saturday Matchday 18 encounter at Kpando Park, Heart of Lions emerged victorious, defeating Asante Kotoko 1-0.
After playing away games at Sogakope and Hohoe in the first half of the season, Lions played at Kpando Park for the first time this season.
Heart of Lions’ lone goal of the game, scored by Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah, sent the home crowd into a frenzy. Asante Kotoko made a strong effort to draw even, but their chances were dashed when defender Nicholas Mensah was sent off following a second yellow card, leaving them with just ten players.
Asante Kotoko persisted in trying to tie the score despite being outnumbered, but Heart of Lions’ defence held strong and prevented them from having any clear-cut chances.
Heart of Lions now have 18 points after the victory, while Asante Kotoko is still in third place with 29 points.
