Real Tamale United (RTU) and Dreams Football Club are two Ghana Premier League teams embroiled in a drama that is still developing.
Dreams FC has filed a protest against RTU for allegedly fielding unqualified players in a league match against the 2023–2024 CAF Confederation Cup semifinalists, which is the latest development in the matter.
In the previously mentioned match, Dreams FC defeated RTU 8-1 in what was both clubs’ penultimate league game of the season.
Dreams’ relegation to the lower division even before their matchup with Dreams was virtually certain given the overwhelming victory.
Dreams filed a protest with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) today, claiming that the Still Believe boys said that the manager and captain of the team expressed worries about the identity of the RTU players before to the game.
Relatedly, the Ghana Football Association (FFA) has charged RTU in connection with the same event, claiming that using an unregistered player in the Ghana Premier League violates Section 34 (6)(d) of the FFA’s Disciplinary Code.
With regard to the purported violation, Real Tamale United has until Friday, June 14 to reply.
