Deputy Minister for Communications Mr. George Andah has stressed on Government’s commitment to create a safer cyber space for Ghanaians as the nation embarks on its digitization agenda.
According to the Deputy Minister, improving cyber security is to ensure that citizens are able to operate on digital platforms without being exposed to online dangers.
Speaking on Accra Based Joy FM, The Deputy Minster said the government will ensure that the country gets the right and secured environment for citizens and all stakeholders..
“By making sure that we have the right environment that is secured for the citizenry, for all stakeholders is extremely important. And that is why we keep talking about the need for all of us to take cyber security seriously.”
He noted that from the Government point of view, if the country does not have a robust cyber security in place, our platforms are extremely vulnerable.
He added that citizens have complained of the lack of awareness on cyber security affecting children. “we have a situation where our kids are on the internet, they are chatting with strangers, and do not know they are making sexual offers to them and our kids become extremely vulnerable”
“So from the platform point of view, we need to make sure that we put in place the right measures to have a secured system so that all the stake holders can have a secured ecosystem so that all the stakeholders get the benefit of our digitization agenda without fear,” he said.
He said putting in place this measure will help improve the right kind of digitized system the Government has been working towards.
