Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has assured Ghana’s U20 Female side of Government’s support throughout their journey at FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup in Costa Rica.
Ghana will be involved in their sixth consecutive FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tournament.
They will face United States, the Netherlands and Japan in Group D of the tournament.
The Princesses have never made it past the group stages of the FIFA Women’s World cup in five attempts.
They will embark on a Europe tour ahead of the tournament in Costa Rica in their quest to make it past the group of death.
The Sports Minister urged the team to represent Ghana well on the world stage and make the Nation and themselves proud.
‘As you prepare to embark on this journey to Costa Rica, you paid a courtesy call on his excellency the Vice President and the Chief of Staff who congratulated you on behalf of the President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Akufo Addo’ Mr. Ussif said.
‘You were told I will be reaching out to you and today I am here to deliver the special package to the team. As I deliver this package, I urge you to do more as you look to make a sixth consecutive world cup appearance’.
‘As you go, bear in mind you are not representing yourself but the entire 31 million people of Ghana so as you get on the pitch, you should know that you are lifting the flag of our nation high’. He further urged.
The 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be staged in Costa Rica from 10-28, August, 2022.
