State-owned oil marketing company, GOIL, is to fund the construction of a new fuel farm at the new Kumasi International Airport in the Ashanti Region.
The stable supply of aviation jet fuel is one of the most important functions for the airport. However, given the passenger and aircraft movement expected at the Kumasi after it is completed and handed over to government in October 2022, the current fuel farm cannot meet the demands of the future.
The new Kumasi Airport terminal building is designed to handle 800,000 passengers per annum.
A typical aircraft refueling facility for such an airport generally consists of tanker berth facility for fuel unloading, fuel transfer pipeline, fuel storage tank, delivery pump with hydrant piping. Some airports have ancillary devices for fuel quality control.
A certain numbers of fuel storage tanks are expected to be provided at the airport to hold Aviation fuel.
In 2020, GOIL’s profit after tax dropped to GH¢90.03 million down by 14.5 per cent compared to the previous year. Consequently, earnings per share also fell by 14.5 per cent in 2019. The company’s Profit after tax stood at GH¢105.5million.
